Camp Carol Brown Backpacking trip

 

Saturday

- Arrive at the Scout House at 7:30am.

- Distribute food ,stoves, fuel, pots, pans and utensils.

- Leave for Camp Carol Brown at 8:00am.

- Arrive around 8:40am

- Leaders will move cars as needed to Camp White Pines.

- Hike up to campsite.

- Set up tents

- Explore campsite

- Lunch (bring your own)

- Begin shelter building.

- Around 3:00pm begin wilderness survival lessons.  D. Dunlap will assign speakers and topics ahead of time.

- Around 5:00pm start campfire.

- Dinner

- Night games

- 10:30pm Lights out

 

Sunday

- 6:30am - Check to see who survived the night, ha ha.

- Grubmasters begin breakfast

- 8:30am – Sunday service

- 9:00am – take down shelters and tents

- 10:00am – More lessons on wilderness survival.  D. Dunlap to assign.

- Work on scout books

- Grubmasters begin lunch.

- 1:00pm - Pack up everything and leave

- 2:00pm – Arrive back at the Scout House.

 

 

What to bring

- Camping backpack or school backpack and a sports bag

- Tent if you are not working on the wilderness survival merit badge.

- 50 to 100 yards of string/rope if you are building a shelter.

- Sleeping bag

- Change of clothes

- 120 oz. of water (6 bottles)

- snack foods

- Depending on weather – poncho and other rain gear

- Depending on weather – jacket, knit cap, cold weather socks

- Knife, optional - hand axe.

- Hiking boots (no tennis shoes)

- Boy scout cap

- Hiking staff

- Mess kit (take a permanent market and put your initials on every piece) – remember the cup

- Camping Fork ,Spoon ,Knife set (Also put your initials on every piece)

- If building shelter take a piece of plastic sheeting

- Your Lunch for Saturday

- Flashlight

- First Aid Kit

- Toothbrush / toothpaste

- Toilet paper

- Large kitchen trash bag

- 16 paper towels.

- Bug Spray

 

 

Meals

- Saturday Breakfast, eat before your arrive at the scout house.

- Saturday Lunch -  Suggestion – sandwich, chips and cookie.

- Saturday Dinner – Suggestion – Hot dogs, Hot dog buns, chips, apple or cookie

- Sunday Breakfast – Suggestion – Cereal, oatmeal, hot chocolate

- Sunday Lunch – Suggestion – Chicken / Noodles, hot chocolate
